About

Create Escape: Art Studio & Gift Boutique is a haven of artistic practice and inspired tastes.

Centered on a working art studio that offers fine art and craft lessons to children and adults, Create Escape also features a finely curated selection of handmade items from local artisans.

The Create Escape studio operates on the guiding principles that:

  • art is for everyone and everyone is creative;

  • art and beauty should be a part of everyday life; and

  • creativity is an essential skill that manifests in all areas of life.

In practice this means that our lessons cater to both children and adults of varying ability, are offered in a variety of media and take many different forms.  Our lesson schedule is designed to suit you and your life.  But, if you don’t see what you’re looking for in our schedule, let us know; we'll see what we can do.

About the Owner

"Create Escape is my dream come true; a place where I am able to share my passion for art with people every day."

I’m Katherine Stinson, the owner / teacher / artist of Create Escape. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been the creative and artsy sort. What started as craft time with paper, scissors, glitter, glue, and whatever else I could get my hands on, has turned into a life-long love of creating. Nowadays, I gravitate towards watercolour painting, pottery and printmaking, but, regardless of the medium, I am happiest when I am creating.

I’m a qualified Art teacher registered with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and have a wealth of experience teaching the full spectrum of ages. I’ve taught two to 10 year olds while volunteering with Kids Do Art in London, Ontario, 11 to 19 year olds while teaching in the UK, and watercolour lessons for adults. With this experience comes the knowledge and ability necessary to provide customized and differentiated instruction to you and your child.

Whatever your artistic need, I’d be delighted to assist in providing the solution.
